problem with mri? or with me?

ok i got the gs mri burnt to disk ect.. ran it on my desktop no problems... ran it on my laptop and suddenly had "limited connectivity" on my wireless.. after two hours of screwing with it i rolled back to a restor point. instant internet. no router resets, remake wireless network ect.. nothing worked until i did the rollback.
now i could not find anything anywhere that could have caused this. everything looked kosher.

Oh, btw, found the call to the orange GS colors. :D

Yes, I am not joking this time. I found the call that the MRI does to get the colors for the entire MRI disc structure. I used Visual Studio, but I am sure you can also use a hex editor to do it as well. Use whatever program you would like and open up the file /EZBOOT/MRI.EZB . If you scroll through it, you will see the color calls and the option to load the different text for the main MRI boot menu. I can't believe that I found it, but I did. I am going through the rest of the EZBOOT files to see what else I can find. I will keep you guys updated.

Your ideas for the new bootable disc

If some of you haven't read my other forum post, my next door neighbor and I are going to be creating our own "MRI" from scratch. I was just wondering what you guys think should be on it. So far, the base things that are of course going to be on it are:
1. File management software of some kind (I was thinking 7-zip)
2. Antivirus software and a batch file to run them all consecutively (just like FACE on the MRI)
3. MBR fix
4. Miscellaneous registry fixes (post different ones you would suggest)
5. Web browser(s) (I was thinking Opera and Firefox)
6. A temp file scanner/cleaner

Screw editing the MRI

You know, why do we keep trying to edit and make the Geek Squad's MRI our own? Why don't we just take what they have done as an outline and start over from scratch. My next door neighbor and I are going to do just that. If you are up to the challenge with us, let me know and we'll go from there. Good luck to those of you who are still editing the MRI to make it not look like the one from Geek Squad, but I am a little more ambitious and am working on my Computer Science degree right now and creating something like that would be a great thing to be able to put on a resume.

Looking for program that tracks registry queries

Just wanted to know if there was any program that can see a programs query of registry key.

If that's not possible I just want to know people's recommendation for just a program to track registry changes and another to track any reading/writing to the hard drive.

Thought that if any program existed like this someone here would know. Thanks in advance.

Oh shit. You guys fucked up....

You know, you should all be forewarned about this. I don't know if someone put it in there intentionally or what, but I just found a tracer in the M(R)I.exe file that points to the IP address of 168.94.74.68:8080. I just thought you guys should know. I don't think that is anywhere that Geek Squad has a headquarters at because that location is in a residential location, but I would still be worried in-case someone else is trying to place a ping back to their residence to track who all is using this particular disk.

SoldierX MRI 5.0.3 Not bootable

Hey there all, I downloaded the latest version of MRI (5.0.3) untouched and COSCstudent's cracked and defaced mri.exe file. I replaced the normal mri.exe with COSCstudent's version and made an iso image and burned it all on to a cd and it was not bootable. When the computer is on and i pop in the cd it loads. but it wont boot. I need a bit of help.

F-MOD and File Permissions

How the hell does F-MOD in MRI v5.0.3.0 manage to delete system files in my Vista VM without even having the appropriate permissions? I cannot do this through Windows Explorer or any other file manager, either. The closest I have come to emulating F-MOD's utter arrogance about boundaries is to run SubInACL and give file permissions for ALL directories to SYSTEM, Administrators, and Users. Obviously, F-MOD's targeted approach is the preferred one.

Anyway, just thought I would ask, but with GS being so secretive I doubt there is much more to be said on this than there already has.

MRI Survey

There's a lot of MRI activity going on and it's brought a lot of new people into SoldierX. I want to get some demographics of our new found geek brothers.

So.. if you all wouldn't mind answering a few questions...

1. How old are you?

2. Why do you want MRI?

3. Have you ever programmed before?

5. Do you work? If so - what do you do?

6. Ever used a trojan on anyone (not the condom Wink )?

7. Which version of Windows is your favorite? Why?

8. What country are you from?

9. What do you like to do when you're bored?

10. Which would you prefer

How to manually update the Panda AV definitions for MRI...

I'm sure many of you have noticed that Panda's definitions refuse to download when you run TFU (The FACE Updater) on MRI. As an ex-Geek Squad agent, I'm gonna you guys in on a little secret. There's actually a direct link to download the definitions you need directly from Panda's website. Anyways, here's a quick little tutorial on how to download and slipstream the updates into the iso.

1) Grab the latest definition file from http://5487HGVFFS:[email protected]/member/pavsig3/pav.zip and save it to your desktop.

2) Open up the MRI iso in UltraISO or a similar program.

3) Browse to "Malware\Core Scanners\Panda\Definitions" and then add the file you just downloaded.

4) Confirm the overwrite, save the iso and burn it to a CD!
