I finally got internet last night in my new apartment and proceeded to uncap to 18mb down / 1mb up. Unfortunately, uTorrent is doing a terrible job of downloading quickly, despite changing settings back and forth. It seems that, while it will connect to a lot of peers/seeds, it doesn't actually transfer on most of them. I've done a lot of searching, and this is a common issue.
So, I'm on a quest to find the fastest fully-featured bittorrent client for Windows 7. Yes, some of you might think that all torrent clients will download at the same speed, but that's not the case - different clients will have different ways of downloading (for example, uTorrent won't disconnect from a peer unless it hasn't transferred data in 10 minutes, and only requests a max of 50 peers at a time, from what I read).
As seen on Demonoid's front page.....
In the United States, a new law proposal called The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) was introduced last week, and there will be a hearing in front of the Judiciary Committee this Thursday.
If passed, this law will allow the government, under the command of the media companies, to censor the internet as they see fit, like China and Iran do, with the difference that the sites they decide to censor will be completely removed from the internet and not just in the US.
Please see the following article from the Huffington Post for more information.

I don't see anything on here about IE9.
I have it installed on my Win7 64 bit system and it flies, blows Opera, Chrome and FF away IMO
Has anyone else tried this yet?
I'm curious if any 1 has ever tried BTGUARD from http://btguard.com/ cause i'm curious if its actually the real deal or just some bs. thought?
So I have a copy of Office 2007 Enterprise Edition I have been using for years now and works like a charm but Office 2010 has been out for some time now and I have yet to come across a fully activated working copy with no issues. Seems like everything on the bay is temporary and nothing thats a sure thing. Anybody have any luck finding this?
Besides using windows EFS, I was looking around for a good, simple application to use to encrypt with a password, files and folders. I figured I'd ask just in case someone had a really good program like this in there stash. Let me know. Again, it doesn't have to be super secure (although the more the better) and I keep my work stationed locked, I just want it for extra security or when my girlfriend gets snoopy. Thanks.
kid
cool little program that uses PuTTY as a plugin to enable tabbed sessions and a side bar with a stored sessions manager. really quite cool and useful if you are SSHing into more than one session/server

i want to get this communities opinion on system optimizers. my first question is do they actually do much? they say they delete empty registry keys and the likes...but do they actually do this? i have used Advanced System Optimizer (http://www.systweak.com/aso/) and it never really seemed to speed up my computer. but maybe it actually is doing something under the hood.
are they worth the hassle of installing and using?
Ok so we started this topic on a different thread talking about spotmau powersuite but we suddenly went off topic and starting talkining about our utility tools we personally use to keep our pcs running like a beast. So why not start a new thread dedicated to just that. Here I want a clean but arguable discussion about what u use and why. Don't just post the name of a tool but the point is why use a certain tool or method over a different one. So let's begin.
Ok so ive been using norton ghost to backup any computer i fix just in case i take a wrong turn somewhere along the way lol. ive used many others like the tools on the ultimate boot disc to clone hdd but i think ghost far exceeds anything those tools can do...if im wrong plz tell me and explain to me how they can do more. so my question is: Is there a way to "install/mount" ghost on a usb? that way i dont have to install it every time on different computers. ive done much research trying to run this on a u3 system usb but no success then i tried all the conversion tools to try and help the iso mount on to the usb but again no success. so ive tried asking other sources about this and most just say its impossible do to the fact the program needs the registry files installed into the system to be able to read all the information needed to do a backup but i think its more then that rite?
